I finally got some gifts wrappped and put under the tree this weekend and after watching a kid on the Polar Express movie express his need to find his gifts, John took that as a hint to search under our tree for his presents. Up until now, he has paid little or no attention to the gifts. After much searching, he located one with his name on it and wanted to know if he could open it. We told him that he would have to wait until Christmas and his response was "oh." He then sat on the couch, watched his show and laid the gift next to him. When it was time for bed, he wanted to sleep with his package. When he woke the next morning, he said "good morning mommy, it christmas!"
I told him Christmas was still several days away, his response was to hang his head and say "oh." So, he took his package and sat down next to it on the couch. When it was nap time, he slept next to it. When he went to bed that night, we tucked it in next to him. It's so cute, because he doesn't try to open it, he's not interested in looking to see if there are other gifts under the tree for him..he's just content to carry this one gift around until Christmas. I sure hope that the gift inside doesn't disappoint!
