Ahhh...Sleep

Yesterday, we spent the day at the park and beach in Encinitas with friends. It was a beautiful day! John William was having so much fun at the beach that I couldn't bring myself to tell him that we had to leave. So, we stayed much longer than we usually do. We spent all afternoon playing in the sand, running in and out of the waves. This was after some time playing at the beautiful park nearby. It was an action packed day with no time for a nap. When he went to bed last night, he was one tired boy. So tired, that it is the first time all year that he has slept through the night without waking up. Uninterrupted sleep is such a novelty in my world. I think that I can count on two hands the number of nights that JW has slept completely through the night since he was born. Seriously, I'm not exaggerating. You know it's gone on for a long time, when I woke with a start at 5am this morning and ran to his room, concerned that he was still breathing. (At the age of four) So new theory: beach bum = sleep filled night. We can't let this theory go untested. So with science and sleep in mind, I'm giving up chores, errands, & house cleaning. If you are looking for us, we will be hanging at the beach.
