Decorating UPS

When John William first mentioned that he wanted a "UPS man" party, I was a bit perplexed as to how you decorate for such a party. It's not like you can just go to your local party store and buy decorations. I have to say it has been a lot of fun creating this party. Yeah, it's been a bit more work but I really enjoyed the whole process. I'm so thankful that he came up with such a unique idea and everyone was really supportive and seemed to enjoy the concept. I wanted it to be special for him and it felt so much more personal than just buying character plates and napkins at the store. Not only was it a fun process but I got to meet some great people that were so generous with their ideas, time, & gifts....The cake decorator at Albertsons that took an idea and ran with it, Michael with his UPS Stop ebay store that called to make sure that my order was correct and then threw in a few extras as a surprise. The staff at my local UPS store that donated supplies. The Cake shop employee that helped me figure out how to stick fondant to cookies. Ron, our regular UPS driver, who went to work during his vacation to wash his truck and make sure all was arranged for their special delivery the next day. Scott, the Saturday UPS driver who could have got off work early but instead waited at the bottom of the hill until our party was in full swing to stop by. The world is full of wonderful people that helped make a birthday really special for a boy that they don't even know. I'm so thankful to the them!

I think we may have been the first ever to throw a UPS birthday party but we may not be the last. The UPS driver came in and was taking pictures of the decor and talking about throwing a party like this for his son. Here are some pictures....

The table centerpiece, a diecast UPS truck from the UPS Man

Made from cardboard, a UPS Delivery Truck Playhouse (JW helped me paint it)

How cool are these UPS lights? I think they were my favorite find!
